Free From My Fears

Say this right now: “God says: when I seek Him, He will help me to live free from my fears!”

I sought the Lord and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears | Word Blessings | free from my fears

When I seek the Lord with all my heart,
He helps me to live free from my fears.

God wants you to be saying, “I’m living free from my fears”

Fear is produced by an evil spirit that attacks by trying to get you to focus on feelings of doubt, worry, anxiety, fear, and panic.

God says, “Fear not!”. And what He means is, “Don’t act on your feelings; act according to the Truth of My Word!”

Yes, you’ll feel feelings of fear, but don’t let those feelings dictate your response! Learn to recognize that what your feelings are telling you is a lie from the devil.

Then choose, by faith, to act according to God’s Word.

Satan and his demons will try to pull you down into discouragement and despair by inserting all those “what if…?” questions into your thoughts.

Here’s One Of The Devil’s Goals:
The devil wants to keep you focused on your problem; to magnify the size of it until it seems overwhelming. Then you’ll just give up — and the devil wins!

That doubting voice will sound just like your voice, but it may not be.

Here’s What You Can Do:

Learn to recognize that the thoughts in your mind may be put there by the devil. Examine this thought by asking your own questions: “Are you from Heaven or Hell? Do you intend to bless me (from Heaven) or to scare me (from Hell)? This time, I am not going to fall for your trickery! God has given me a sound mind, and He says I know His voice. You are not His voice, so go to Hell in the name of Jesus, and quit bothering me! I do not have to tolerate any longer you trying to get me to be panicky!”

Then begin to praise God for all the good things He has done for you.

Perhaps the most powerful thing you could do would be to burst out in unrestrained joy and praise to God by reciting the opening segment of Psalm 34

1 I will extol the Lord at all times;
     his praise will always be on my lips.
2 I will glory in the Lord;
    let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 Glorify the Lord with me;
    let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
    he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant;
    their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
    he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,
    and he delivers them.

Psalm 34:1-7

These are things I do all the time, and I can tell you in all sincerity: God is as good as His Word. He has set me from my fears.

When I recite Philippians 4:4-7, which contains the phrases, “Rejoice in the Lord always… Be anxious for nothing…” I can honestly say, “I have those blessings. That passage describes how I live!”

Ready for some good news?

You Can Have Those Blessings Too!

However, there is a part you have to do.

You’ve probably seen one of those nature films where a lion has spotted the weakest member of the herd. He’s charging, His jaws are open wide, as he prepares to overpower and devour his prey.

QUESTION: How likely is it that the lion would pause and wait so that the weak animal could rest, get a drink of water, and get something to eat in order to be stronger?

Right! Ain’t gonna happen!

In 1 Peter 5:8 the Apostle Peter wrote, “…the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour”. Do you see my point? Like the lion attacking a weak animal, the devil is not going to halt his attack on you so you can look up a Bible verse or call a friend.

No, you’ve got to begin putting “ammunition” of the Word of God into your mind. That’s where the battle is taking place. Your knee-jerk reaction has to be to instantly turn to the Truth of the Word of God for help. Only then will you be able to know when it’s the devil that’s attacking, and be armed and able to defeat him with God’s Word.

If you’ve never heard of this before, or never used God’s Word in this way, what I’m saying will seem preposterous to you.

It goes against common sense, right?

AND THERE’S THE KEY, RIGHT THERE!

“COMMON SENSE” is the wisdom of the world!
BUT WAIT: Satan and his demons have dominion over this world (temporarily). So if you’re living according to common sense, you may be PARTNERING WITH THE DEVIL!

You need something uncommon, namely the supernatural help of God. But understand: it’s a partnership deal. There’s a part that you can do, and then there’s the big part that only God can do. Until you do your part, God cannot do His part.

I want you to see what Jesus Himself says in regard to knowing us His Word. I have higelighted the phrases I want you to notice:

21 Whoever has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words. And the word that you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me. (John 14:21-24)

When He says “commandments”, Jesus in not referring just to the Ten Commandments. He’s speaking of all the teachings, statutes, ordinances, precepts, testimonies, judgement, laws, and commands. How many are there? Only He knows.

Here’s another:

15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

Here are the key phrases that I wanted to point out:

  • Whoever has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me.
  • If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word.
  • Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words.
  • If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

I’m just reading those at face value and thinking, “He wants me to know His Word!”

How To Apply The Principle:

  1. The psalmist (David) took a step of faith: He “sought the Lord”. He believed God would act.
  2. David reported the outcome: God answered him by delivering him from all his fears.
  3. David praised God. In verse 1, David declared, “I will extol the Lord at all times. His praise will always be on my lips.”
  4. Realize: God filled the Bible with wisdom for all of us to draw upon. (See 1 Corinthians 10:11 )
  5. Know: God is calling us to choose to take genuine steps of faith by walking according to His Word (see Psalm 119:30 ) even when doing so seems contrary to our life experience and goes against common sense (which, as I stated earlier, is the wisdom of the world controlled by the devil).

God doesn’t expect you to know everything in the Bible. No human can. He’s simply looking for steady progress in the right direction.

You and I can do that!

It’s important that we do. Because you see: with Jesus, it’s all about “relationship”. He longs to partner with you and help you. His Holy Spirit is already in you. Put Him to work on your behalf, and He’ll will give you all the power you need.

God has not abandoned you. He’s right there in the fire with you to deliver you from all your fears. He’ll bring you through it. Trust Him!

PRAYER: “Heavenly Father, I choose to believe the Truth of Your Word right now! I choose to believe that you will help me to be free from my fears. I know that my peace comes as a result of my trusting You and Your love and provision for me. Thank You, Lord, that You are with me and that this trial is just for a season.”

    This morning like every morning I woke up so afraid. I have been studying god’ sword and one of the scriptures I always use is The Lord is my God he holds my right hand, fear not for I have overcome the world and I will help you. Then I got up and went to my email to find your writings on fear. I read them and I am going to bookmark this section. I hope this was a sign from God to find this because I am struggling with fear so much. I try so hard to overcome it, and I keep pressing on waiting for God to release me. I hope and I pray he will and take my child and myself out of this wilderness we have suffered for long enough. Thank you for sharing about fear.

      Kimberly, I’m so glad that you found this article helpful. Your timing is great, in that I just finished it yesterday!
      I just wanted to reassure you here. In the past, I have struggled with fear and worry too. I had panic attacks. Terrible!
      But God (I love those two words) has brought me through it, and has — as I wrote in this article — help me to be free from my fears. He will do the same for you.
      I don’t know if you noticed, but I’ve written a whole series of articles on the subject of spiritual warfare. You can see the list in the sidebar at right. I urge you to begin reading those. Perhaps not all at once, but as you feel ready for more Truth from God’s Word. ~ Jan

        Thank you Jan for your reply, I have been reading your other articles on spiritual warfare. They are very helpful. Since I replied I have been using the scripture you talked about that you used for fear and it has been helping. I keep on keeping on. Thank you again. Kimberly
