I praise You, Lord, because Your Word is a lamp to my feet as I travel the dark paths of life.
Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105)
A Lamp To My Feet
Is the Word of God a lamp to your feet and a light to your path through life? Is Your worldview informed and guided by biblical principles?
If so, you’re in the very elite company of biblical figures such as Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Ruth, Esther, Job, Daniel, Jeremiah, David, Mary, Jesus’ disciples, and many others.
Whenever we read the stories of how God interacted with the people back than, we ought to think, “I see how those people responded to God — I’m going to do that too. If He brought them through their trials, I know He’ll be with me through my trials, too.”
Paul, in realizing we should do this, wrote:
These things happened to them to serve as an example, and they were written down to instruct us. (1 Corinthians 10:11)
God filled the Bible with practical, beneficial, life-transforming principles as a “lamp to our feet”. We take hold of those principles – and so get to Know God – by observing how He interacted with the people in those Bible stories and then responding by faith as they did.
