How Cold Was It?

Jan Smith – January 2, 2009

Our daughter and her husband drove up from Anchorage to Fairbanks on New Year’s Eve. They were hungry as they pulled into Fairbanks, so they headed downtown hoping to find a fast-food place open.Jenni writes, “…nothing was open. Did get this cool picture though”.Cool? Now there’s an understatement!<g>

They positioned the car to get a picture showing the dashboard clock to document the time. (Jenni added the new year greeting later.)

Those who’ve been here know exactly where this is in downtown Fairbanks:

wordblessings.com - 50 degrees below zero

So how cold was it? Let’s put it this way: at 50 below, it was 90 degrees warmer than this inside your refrigerator!!

How YOU Can Live In Peace

38 lessons – click/tap image above

All problems are easier to face when you are working from a position of peace and strength rather than from a position of worry, anxiety, and fear. Peace is what you long for, right?  The really good news is: EVERYONE can have peace! How can I say that? Because Jesus Himself said it.

Don’t know about the big thermometers (I’m staying inside), but my home thermometer now shows -55. Cold enough for me to stay inside! (Poor little dog can’t…)

Thank the Lord for a warm house!!!!!

Yes, I’m sure you’re right. Those thermometers in front of stores and banks are notoriously inaccurate.

Hate to say it, but that particular thermometer always reads colder than actual. A better thermometer is the Airport sign, opposite Pike’s Landing on Airport Way. Weather Pixie (http://weatherpixie.com/), reading the airport sign, notes that at this time it is -38F, winds calm, barometer 30.10. Keep warm!
