Your faith has made you well

Your faith has made you well!

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news

The psalmist wrote:

Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what He has done for me.” (Psalm 66:16)

With that thought in mind, let me tell you what God did for me one day: He healed my feet!

The day was Easter Sunday 2004. One of my sons and I went to church extra early, thinking we would reserve space for other family members. (You know how crowded churches are on those holidays.) Unfortunately, we weren’t able to save seats.

So, when my daughter (who has an injured ankle and used a cane) arrived, the pews were jammed full. It was standing room only, with many people already standing!

There’s no way I could remain seated. I motioned to my daughter to come and take my place, which she did.

I need to insert a bit of background information here. Ever since Army basic training in the 60’s, I’ve had a problem with my ankles and feet. Back then my ankles began to swell badly and were very painful. At first I figured it was just part of being in the Army. Parts of your body are supposed to hurt, right? But the swelling and pain got progressively worse.

Long story short: the Army sent me home. Ever since then, if I stand still for more than a minute or two, I begin to experience pain. The longer I stand, the worse it gets.

I tell you this so you’ll understand the full weight of my decision to trade places with my daughter on that Easter morning.

I was choosing to stand still for well over an hour, so that she could sit down. Actually, it wasn’t really a decision because I didn’t take time to even think about it. Still… I knew what would happen.

Now: watch the Hand of God at work!

The service started. The first minute passed… then another. After a short time had passed, I glanced at my watch. Five minutes… no pain yet. Ten minutes… fifteen minutes… still no pain.

My legs should have felt as though they had red-hot metal rods inside them. But they didn’t.

“Heavenly Father”, I breathed silently, “what is happening here?”

I stood there for well over an hour, without a trace of the pain I used to have. And get this: it has never returned!

I’m not claiming a cause-and-effect action on my part.

I had not even asked God for Divine intervention. I simply responded out of love, as the Bible urges us to do.

I’m not trying to connect any dots here, but the undeniable truth is: God has healed my ankles and feet of that particular affliction.

Glory to God!
